Winners of the 2006 Season

A new and exciting croquet season developed in the Show-Me state of Missouri. A total of 7 tournaments were held all over the state. Competition began with the Rockin B Croquet Club of Gallatin, MO hosting the first tournament in June. 39 participants weathered the rain to show their stuff. Winners were 1st Johnny Nichol, 2nd Matt Smith, 3rd Greg Adams, 4th Troy White, 5th Jeff Hatesol & 6th Charlie Mayo.

The Pelican Ridge Croquet Club of Warrensburg with 24 participants held their 5th annual tournament. A great time of food and croquet was enjoyed by everyone. Winners were 1st Matt Smith, 2nd Nick Zink, 3rd Johnny Nichol, 4th Troy White, 5th Greg Adams and 6th place went to Don Brooks.

Held in Parkville, MO and hosted by Charlie Mayo, The Great American Croquet Association held its 33rd Annual Kansas City Invitational. With a large lead Billy Bob Breeden won 1st place. Showing a strong 2nd was Johnny Nichol, 3rd Troy White, 4th Nick Zink, 5th Matt Griffith and rounding out the winners circle was Greg Adams 6th.

The forth tournament of the season was again in Warrensburg with Don Brooks hosting the Midwest Open Tournament. This was his 2nd annual tournament. Leading the winner’s race was 1st Matt Smith, 2nd Johnny Nichol, 3rd Nick Zink, 4th Greg Adams, 5th Greg Clouse and 6th newcomer Seth Greufe. (13 years old)

For the 2nd time, the Lee Summit Parks & Recreation Board hosted a really great tournament. Greg Clouse, tournament host changed the playing field by having a beginners and professional competition. There were a lot of spectators to watch the intense drama and new faces enjoyed learning and watching the game. 1st place winner was Nick Zink, 2nd Matt Smith, 3rd Billy Bob Breeden, 4th Sandra Greufe, 5th Troy White and 6th Matt Griffith.

The 6th tournament was by invitation only. To qualify, you had to place in one of the previous tournaments. Don Brooks, tournament host, invited 12 players to show their skills. The winner, Matt Smith was declared Missouri Croquet Club Champion.

Rounding out the year was a very wet tournament held at the Charlie Mayo home. This was the 25th year for the "Pumpkin Open" hosted by Moon Productions. 1st place went to Billy Bob Breeden, 2nd Johnny Nichol, 3rd Duane Baresel, 4th Sandra Greufe, 5th Don Brooks and 6th "Fast" Eddie Mondt.
